Early in my PMO days I used to rely primarily on dashboards until one day I realized that it was too easy to hide behind forms and reports.

Every morning, I slipped out of my office, stopped by the exec suites, huddled with project leads… No agenda. Just one question:

“What’s working? What’s not?”

That hallway intel outperformed any template. It sparked more honest dialogue. Blockers surfaced early and trust grew naturally.
