The Project Manager Resigned on Day One.
Because he couldn’t build a schedule.
He nailed the interview and said all the right things. He came across as confident and ready to lead
But when the hiring manager handed him a laptop and asked him to build a schedule, the truth came out:
No fundamentals, no fluency, & no credibility.
He quit before the day was over.
So when it came time to fill that role again, the hiring manager changed the process.
This time, I was asked to do something unconventional in an interview:
Build a schedule.
Just prove you can do it and you’re hired. That’s exactly what happened.
I opened the tool, built the schedule from scratch, and that simple act gave the hiring manager the confidence to move forward with me.
